Sonnet: The New Year, 2007

The old year’s gone! The new one has begun!
The world’s most precious need is global peace.
’Tis better nations abandon the gun;
Let suspicions and rivalries all cease!

This earth is one and mankind is one race!
No one can live all independent days;
It does not matter what color or face;
Align must man with Nature in God’s ways.

The earth can’t bear pollution anymore;
Our labor hard will give victory with time;
No nation must to neighbors turn eyesore;
“Preserve the environ’s”- our duty prime.

No nation has the right to stifle next;
Let God’s Commandments serve as guiding text.

Sonnet: The Old Year

The old year passed off smoothly after all;
God blessed most nations rather profusely;
To many souls, God gave His clarion call;
He chose new leaders who would work truly!

God brought the rains on time and helped us farm;
He gave the sun to help harvest the crops;
He saved us from accidents and great harm;
He blessed the land like early morn dew-drops!

The year rolled off quite calmly from the start;
Most people heaved sighs of greater relief;
God’s mercy flowed in excess from His heart;
Let’s thank the Lord for strengthening our belief!

The Tsunami’s havoc has been undone;
Let peace prevail on earth without a gun.

Sonnet: Wisdom Misused

Oh, how some men can stoop to levels low,
Despite old-age and wisdom that God gave!
Their selfish hearts want money all the more!
They say one thing and do differently, rave!

They throw their principles good to the air;
They nod their heads to orders without shame;
They try to do most things in ways unfair;
They try to harass righteous souls and blame.

Their greedy hearts and minds have made them thus;
How sad to see such men behave this way!
They could receive God’s rod and Maker’s curse!
That they must see their blunders, God, I pray.

But this is how most men behave these days!
With hearts like stone, they wear a mask for face!

Sonnet: On Looking Back In Time

Sonnet: On Looking Back In Time

Oh, how I wish to go back to my past,
With all the wisdom that I now possess!
I know this cannot happen: time flies fast;
I could have put my life in more harness!

Yet, anyway, my past was pretty good;
I wish I could have enjoyed much better;
Have tried to study much harder, I should;
My life was great, such things do not matter.

God has been kinder to me than others;
How can I thank my stars for all my luck;
It wasn’t so with some sisters and brothers;
Perhaps, they lacked some finance and more pluck!

But all the same, God has been kind to me;
I thank you God, with all my heart, truly!

Sonnet:Old Age Will Subdue All

Sonnet: Old Age Will Subdue All

The day will come when you must hold a stick
As prop and stand or walk with its support;
This frame will age some day or become sick
Or bed-ridden ‘like old ship back to port’!

The day will come when you can’t raise your voice
Or sing aloud akin to days when young,
Nor eat variety foods as per your choice,
For feeble grows your stomach, cords and lung!

The day will come when you can’t even sin
By habit as you used to do in past;
With senescence, no one can ever win,
Or challenge it until you breathe your last!

When old-age seizes you so stealthily,
Surrender soul to God quite happily!

Sonnet: New Shepherds!

Alone, I live a life of solitude,
Although surrounded by many persons;
This world is one full of ingratitude,
Where people change their hearts for no reasons!

No soul I know on whom I can depend;
The few good people change in tune with times;
I struggle myself trying to defend;
The world has changed ahead of changing climes!

But I can see new Shepherds in limelight;
The Lord performs miracles through these souls;
Despite the looming darkness amidst light,
The Maker gives these men of God, new roles!

The Holy Spirit dwells and functions well,
In turning many souls, away from hell.

Sonnet: Glory

Man tries his level-best to gain glory,
In short a time and by all covert means;
His life gets spent with mind in this worry,
Knowing not that they are but earthly scenes!

One’s glory got by climbing high a peak,
Will stay forev’r if done by hardest way;
But glory o’er-night, others try to seek,
That plummets down to earth during the day!

All earthly glory vanishes with time;
Some may remain for centuries to come;
The wisest man will make his life sublime,
By keeping eyes fixed on heaven- God’s home!

The glory got by man’s efforts lasts not;
Each word from mouth of God decides one’s lot!

Sonnet: All things Are Possible For God

Sonnet: All Things Are Possible for God

The God who made all creatures most perfect,
Is fairest Judge of all, in universe;
But man has turned the earth so imperfect
And tends to make it even much more worse!

The God who made all creatures, big and small
Is duty-bound to give them, fair a deal;
He loves all creatures: man, the most of all;
Takes care of every want and every meal!

The Maker guards the poor, unfortunate:
Takes special care of handicapped and weak;
And yet, gives chances for those fortunate,
And those who pray to Him and favors seek.

How difficult a job, this seems to man!
Do things impossible with ease, God can.

Sonnet: The World I See Today

The few good people I’d known appear changed;
The evil-doers seem to have increased;
The few sane people I’d known look deranged;
Most healthy ones are totally diseased!

The world I saw in childhood was so good;
The world I see today is pretty bad;
Polluted are the air, water and food;
To leave this treacherous world, I would be glad!

This earth was good when God made it at first;
Man’s selfishness has wrought ruin on it;
Man’s sinfulness has turned him one accursed;
So many souls are heading for the ‘Pit’.

But God had planned the redemption of man,
Through Jesus Christ, within our earthly span!

Sonnet: When Trials Come ...

When trials come more often than I bear,
I ask myself, “Must Christians all suffer?”
Most worldly people appear to well fare;
“Are tribulations for purpose better?”

“Why does God let the evil harm the good?”
“Oh, how much longer must I endure, Lord?”
“Do I suffer for sins of my childhood?”
“Perhaps, my faith’s being tested by God?”

God does not give us strife beyond limits;
He wants to make us better Christians fast;
But Satan tries to turn souls into bits;
God gives us ‘Crown of Life’ by trials vast!

When trials come, devils to us liest;
Our suff’rings aren’t greater than that of Christ!

Sonnet: Better Seek God’s Help

Sometimes, I can do things all on my own;
But this isn’t possible always to me;
At times, I can get them done by someone;
May be, then things can happen speedily!

But things go wrong at times when I do them;
And problems occur when others perform;
Delays too happen in solving problem;
All human minds are not always in form.

But yet, the best is placing trust in God;
Nothing goes wrong when God gives solution;
The ways of God at times seem rather odd;
And confidence, God gives by intuition.

God works more wonders than man imagines;
But God helps those with soul afree from sins!
