Sonnet: An Anguished Soul’s Prayer
Oh, let my crosses turn to roses, Lord!
How long must I endure great suffering?
My human frailty puts soul in discord;
I plead for providential buffering.
My temptations in life are mounting fast;
At times, the devils take the upper hand;
I am ashamed of my much sinful past;
The guilt seems like a ‘haunting magic wand’!
Your kindness is a fountain that dries not;
Your forgiveness- solace to souls distressed;
Your grace enthuses all sinfully caught;
Your word keeps them still divinely harnessed.
My faith remains always in life my boon!
God, grant me rest eternal very soon.
